Screening criteria for TYPE 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM)
Anybody that falls into any of these categories is at risk to get T2DM. Screening is recommended.
| a. | Individual with symptoms suggestive of diabetes |
| b. | Asymptomatic overweight individuals (age30 years old or more) with BMI > 23kg/m2 or Waist C ircumference (WC) 80cm or more (women) / WC > 90cm or more (men) with any of the following risk factors:
NOTE: Screening should be done annually |
| c. | Pregnant women with any of the following risk factors:
NOTE: Women with history of GDM should be screened annually |
| d. | Overweight children and adolescents (BMI>85th percentile for age and sex, or weight >120% of ideal) with any two of the following risk factors:
NOTE: Screen every 2 years starting the age 10 years old or at onset of puberty if it occur at younger age |
